The X Factor and the slings and arrows of Matt Cardle

OMG. Who says that reality show contestants don't have any skill? I was watching the X Factor this weeknd and this chap stood up and sung this song live. It was bloody brilliant, so bloody brilliant in fact, that it brought a tear to my eye, and I decided to post the video below. If he keeps that up, I might ask the lucky fellow out on a date. Mind you, let's face facts - given that he is both good looking and talented, he is probably gay.

Vid.No.1.Matt Cardle sings "The First Time"

After pondering about it for a while, I typed 'is Matt Cardle gay?' into Google. I got the following result from WikiAnswers.

Is matt cardle from x factor gay?

My first thought was 'oh no'! And then my second thought was 'who typed the answer yes'? It just seemed to be a bit abrupt, anonymous, and not based on anything as trifling as evidence. Rather too Daily Mail-esque for my liking.

So then I typed 'is Matt Cardle straight?' into Google. I got the following result from The Sun newspaper:  "X FACTOR favourite Matt Cardle has secretly got back with his ex girlfriend - months after dumping her to boost his chances of winning."

For the second time within the space of 3 minutes, Google had cruelly pulled Matt Cardle from my sweaty mitts, and dashed my hopes upon the rocks like a ship that has just crashed (into rocks).

On a positive note, my internet search also threw up an interview with Matt Cardle where he demonstrated his mettle by allegedly calling his fellow contestant, Katie Waissel, a 'fame hungry twat.' That helped me get over him.

Don't you just love the circus that is the X Factor?!

  1. I just caught up on Saturday's performances myself. He was, is, amazing. But I also like Aidan a lot, however intense he is.

  2. I don't watch that thing, but as you were gushing, I clicked the vid.

Is that the look the ladeeez of today like? If so, I must invest in a vat of hair gel and some facial hair sculpture.

He's no Robert Plant tho'. More Jimmy Sommerville crossed with Neil Tennant.

I must be knocking on, or you've been down the pub again.

  3. Terrible programme.

Cheap entertainment full of talentless people and that's just the judges.

  4. Ah but Robert, that was my point - I thought it was talentless, but when I watched this guy perform, my opinion changed quite a lot!

    Good Lord, no!

Last Sunday, I sat - for the first time - through a whole episode of X Factor. Not through choice, I hasten to add: I was part of a captive audience at my sister's house.

I thought it a truly awful programme. The constantly screaming audience got on my nerves within two minutes and the contestants themselves were nothing special, I thought.

And, for me, that's one of the problems with these X Factory/Pop Idoly/Britain's Got Talenty type programmes: at the end of the day they just churn out another singer/boy/girl band who sounds just like every other singer/boy/girl band out there.

In my most humble opinion, of course.

  7. Hey is it me? I seem to have spotted a trend - the lady commenters seem to like X Factor, and the male commenters seem to dislike it with a passion. Ummm What's that about then?

  8. Time for the guys to 'get in touch' with their feminine side! A little bit of talent won't hurt anyone! It's like the 60's....when 'talent' shows were very popular and watched by everyone. Some are good and some are not so good. It's really funny when people disagree on what is good.
