My first reaction was to be really chuffed for him, and my second was to wonder 'what the hell is a nationally syndicated column?' It sounded a bit like a nationwide immunisation program for some horrible disease.
Not wanting to appear ignorant, I resorted to Googling 'nationally syndicated column', and it spewed forth the fact that Brett had been awarded a spot as a resident columnist in a large US website.
Bloody hell. Way to go Brett! You have got blog writing superhero powers!
As we exchanged emails, we slowly forged a cunning plan. Brett is going to write a book called 'The Diary of a Short Black Man.' It is going to be an immediate success which will necessitate a visit to the UK to do book signings. I am going to show him round and make sure that his fans don't inflict any injury in the ensuing melee. Then we are going to do some sightseeing before he jets off back to America (in first class obviously, because by then his book will have gone platinum).
Pic.No.1. Brett and the City blog
'So' I hear you cry, 'What's so good about Brett's blog?'
What isn't good about Brett's blog? It is irreverent, unpolitically correct, laugh out loud funny, observational and ironic. Go and have a squiz..... because once you have read it, I know you are going to want to buy me a beer!

I have already purchased the red carpet for his book signing at Waterstones, Harrow, UK where I shall act as his agent! Way to go Brett.... Evadney (the Volunteer Agent)
You're so right about Brett & the City, thanks for the recommendation Anne! I can see myself losing hours, reading up on past blogs! lol :)
Quite impressive! I think I may have to jet across the pond to witness this phenomeon. It's like the Beatles (in reverse and less 3 men :)
Call me a boring old sod but after reading the last couple of entries I did not find it at all amusing, not one snigger did I emit.
Not my type of humour at all.
Right tin hat and flak jacket on.
Wow Anne... I am so so so so so so very honored!! What a cool piece you just did. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for embracing the blog series the way you have, proving that comedy.. no matter where from or who from is just plain universal.
I can't wait to finally make it over there and do a few "Brett and London town posts. The first round of vodka shots are on me. LOL
Nice one Evadney....don't forget about the crowd control measures?!
Glad you like it Gill. It really tickles my warped sense of humour..enjoy the catch-up!
LOL! Yeh anonymous.... just like the Beatles!
Oh no Robert. You've broken ranks! Never mind, I suppose things can't appeal to everyone....
Cheers Brett! Getting their own column is a big thing for a writer... couldn't let it pass unmarked.
My vodka's a double and I'm looking forward to showing you the sights!
Thanks for the recommendation. I have followed some of Brett's posts, but will be more regular. It really is funny.
Be well,
Ron
I shall add Brett to my reader
" It is irreverent, unpolitically correct, laugh out loud funny, observational and ironic."
Sounds like my kind of blog. I'll have to check him out!
Thanks :)
I agree with everything you say (but I do it without that snooty British accent).
Am a big fan of Brett and his blog!
Congrats!
Brahm... tut, tut - sometimes you can be ever so cheeky... moi? with a snooty British accent. Surely that doesn't come across in writing? ;-)
Candice... you'll lurrrve him. A perfect fit for your style of writing!
